Overview
The Pi NoIR, a Raspberry Pi camera module with no infrared filter, is designed for nighttime and low-light photography using infrared illumination. It can be useful for wildlife research, scientific projects, nocturnal security, or the creation of artistic photographs.

The Raspberry Pi camera module has served many purposes, functioning as a security camera, facilitating time-lapse photography, and even ascending to high altitudes within a weather balloon.
Given the broad spectrum of projects for which Raspberry Pi devices are utilised, certain users encountered difficulties when deploying the camera module in low-light conditions with an infrared light source. Unfortunately, the Raspberry Pi camera module incorporates an infrared filter, rendering it unsuitable for such applications. In response, Arducam introduced a dedicated camera module tailored to these specific requirements, the Pi NoIR camera. It mirrors the standard camera module in all aspects except for the absence of an IR filter.
With NoIR, the camera becomes suitable for nighttime photography, nocturnal security applications, or any project illuminated by an infrared light source. The unfiltered camera sensor can perceive short-wavelength infrared light, approximately 800nm in wavelength, which falls beyond the visible red spectrum yet doesn't emanate from heat but from just beyond the visible red light.
This camera maintains identical specifications to the standard camera module but features a distinct black circuit board, enabling easy differentiation from the standard green camera board.
