Overview

  • Complete Synchronisation: The frames of every camera are synchronised at the hardware level.
  • Wide Compatibility: Works with both Raspberry Pi and NVIDIA Jetson Nano/Xavier NX/AGX Orin/Orin Nano/Orin NX
  • Variable Baseline Extension: Compared to the fixed stereo camera module, this stereo camera bundle offers enhanced flexibility. The individual cameras can be utilised with a variable baseline device and managed via the computer control system to swiftly and dynamically adjust the moving components, enabling a multi-degree-of-freedom stereo quadrascopic vision.
  • Mono Global Shutter: Capture high-speed moving objects with exceptional clarity and precision. By avoiding rolling artefacts, you can obtain a complete and accurate picture, surpassing the limitations of rolling shutter Pi cameras. With a frame rate of 70fps at 1280*2 x 800 on Jetson, you can enjoy smooth and detailed footage.

The Arducam quadrascopic camera bundle is a powerful combination of four 1MP OV9281 global shutter cameras and the innovative Arducam Camarray HAT. Building upon the success of the Arducam Synched Stereo Camera HAT, the Camarray takes multi-camera capabilities to the next level by enabling the interfacing of four synchronized MIPI camera modules to a single MIPI CSI-2 camera port on popular single-board computers like Raspberry Pi. With the release of the Camarray HAT, Arducam also introduces support for variable baselines in multi-camera applications, including the OV9281 cameras included in this bundle. This allows you to kickstart your prototyping for multi-camera projects and determine the optimal baseline.

Important Notes

  • The specification table above for Jetson Nano is for JetPack4.6/L4T32.6.1 on NVIDIA Jetson Nano/Xavier NX.
  • This kit is released for official Raspberry Pi/Jetson Nano/Xavier NX boards by default and does not support other third-party boards.
  • This camera relies on kernel drivers to work – one kernel version, one camera driver. Up or downgrading your OS leads to a kernel bump, and you may need to re-install a matching driver.
  • Raspberry Pi and Jetson board are not included in the package.
  • This bundle kit is not recommended for Raspberry Pi Zero.
  • The OV9281 cameras in this kit are special and cannot be used directly on Raspberry Pi or Jetson.
  • This kit uses a 1MP OV9782 sensor. Due to the limitations of the sensor, the camera may experience lens shading under low exposure conditions.
  • The I2C signal and clock of each camera are fully synchronized. It is unavailable to capture the same frame of images at different exposure times for each camera.
  • The Camarray HAT is not sold alone for the following reasons:

Most of the cameras on the market are not designed for synched stereo uses. We’ve modified our camera modules specifically for the Camarry HAT. Your own V1, V2 or HQ camera modules won’t directly work with it.
The Camarray HAT requires different firmware for different Image sensors that are not natively working with your embedded systems. Your own OV9782 camera modules won’t directly work with it, and they are not easily interchangeable.

  • The lens on this camera is not interchangeable. If you need to replace the lens, please contact us.
