Overview

  • Jetvariety: The Nvidia Jetson platform V4L2 kernel camera driver framework which can support any MIPI cameras Arducam provides.
  • Global Shutter: Shoot high-speed moving objects in crisp, sharp images
  • IR Sensitivity: NoIR, sensitive to IR light. For IR-cut filter version see: B0161

Arducam has introduced the OV9281 global shutter monochrome (B&W) 1280x800 resolution MIPI camera module for Jetson Nano. The camera module is equipped with a 1/4-inch Omnivision OV9281 image sensor that utilises OmniPixel3-GS™ technology. This technology enables the provision of full-frame, sub-sampled, and windowed 8/10-bit MIPI images. With a 1-lane MIPI bus, the camera module can operate at up to 120fps in full resolution, while offering complete user control over image quality.

Thanks to its global shutter and impressive low-light sensitivity, the OV9281 camera module is suitable for various applications such as gesture detection, head and eye tracking, as well as depth and motion detection.

With the implementation of Project Jetvariety, the Jetson Nano's high-speed CSI-2 connector now supports the connection of various camera modules including Arducam's OV9281 camera modules. The Jetvariety Project aims to provide a solution to add support to the camera modules that are currently beyond the NVIDIA support. Those camera modules are either V4L2 compliant or NVIDIA Argus API compliant.

Equipped with NoIR (No Infrared) technology, this embedded camera module stands out with its remarkable ability to capture high-quality images in low-light environments. Unlike standard cameras, this NoIR camera can detect both visible and infrared light, making it an ideal choice for situations with limited lighting. By removing the infrared filter, this camera module excels in applications such as nighttime surveillance and astrophotography, providing innovative solutions to overcome the limitations of traditional cameras.

For the Raspberry Pi NoIR version, see the B0206 (OV7251) or if you require an IR filter see the B0161 (OV7251).
